Join the South Suburban Humane Society at Balmoral Park Racetrack on Saturday Aug. 30 for Dog Day.  Bring out your pooch starting at 5:30 pm (first post at 7:20 pm) and the humane society will be on hand with adoptions and discounted doggie services including: micro-chipping for $15, a dog wash for $5 and a "paw"dicure for $10 and much more!  All proceeds benefit the South Suburban Humane Society. 

Check out Nuts for Mutts The Walk! On October 19th, 2008, join animal lovers in a 5K cross country walk through the rolling hills of Pierce College, overlooking the San Fernando Valley. The route will have "Pawzstations" with plenty of water stops, food and fun! Walk with your dog, kids or just yourself. Registration is free. Gather support from friends, family, and colleagues to meet your minimum Walk for Paws fundraising goal of $150 (or more). Funds raised help support New Leash On Life Animal Rescue and Lend a Paw. Humane Society of Central Illinois will be having their first Must Love Dogs - Singles Day on Sunday, October 5, from 2:00 - 3:00 pm, at Maxwell Park's Dog Park, in Normal, Illinois.  Dogs can be a great icebreaker in meeting someone new! For some pet lovers, "Must Love Dogs" is a prerequisite to a relationship. If nothing else, perhaps the dogs will hit it off and create an on-going play group.
